Collaboration with governments, non-governmental organisations, other energy producers, industry bodies, consumers and local communities helps us in many different ways. It is a proven way to learn new things, share best practices, achieve specific objectives, set future goals, and build trust with the many different stakeholders who have an interest in our company.

We work in partnership in many areas – for example, to help us implement our investment in communities more effectively, to reduce our environmental impact, to protect biodiversity or to improve on specific areas of human rights. Partnerships are also essential to help enhance safety and environmental standards and practices within our industry.

Some of the views of the organisations with which we participate may differ from our own. For example, we may not always agree with their opinions on topics such as climate change. In these cases, we make our views known within the organisation and seek to influence its position on certain policies.

Collaborations overview

The table shows some of the organisations that we collaborate with globally on topics such as environmental sustainability, climate change and technology. Shell also works with many community-based organisations.

More in Sustainability

Environmental and social partners

Shell works with environmental and developmental organisations all over the world. This helps us to reduce our environmental and societal impact, to improve the quality of land and water around our operations and to benefit local communities. Working with others in sustainability partnerships is the focus of UN Sustainable Development Goal 17.

Biodiversity

Our ambition is to have a positive impact on biodiversity. Find out what we're doing.
